Udaipur’s sights cluster. The City Palace, Jagdish Temple, the Lake Pichola ghats and Bagore Ki Haveli sit within a short walk of each other in the old city. Fateh Sagar, Saheliyon Ki Bari and Shilpgram lie to the north and west, and the forts and temples worth a day lie beyond the city.
The table below lists 18 places with what each is, how long to allow, the fee as listed and two road distances. Where we found no official fee, we say so rather than print a figure from a travel blog that may be years old. How we write our guides explains the method.

Read “Fee as listed” as who published it, not as a price confirmed at the gate: each paragraph says where the figure comes from.
The old city and Lake Pichola
City Palace
The City Palace rises in tiers above the east bank of Lake Pichola. Maharana Udai Singh II, who founded Udaipur, began it in the 16th century, and the Maharanas who followed kept adding to it for almost 400 years. Part of it became a museum in 1974, according to Wikipedia, and its courtyards include Mor Chowk. Our City Palace guide covers the routes and the courtyards in detail.
The City Palace Museum lists 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. The HRH Hotels page lists ₹400 for an adult and ₹150 for a child aged 5 to 18, camera included, but carries no date. It shows no separate foreign rate, and some travel sites quote lower Indian prices, so confirm at the counter.
Photo: Jakub Hałun · CC BY-SA 4.0Lake Pichola
Udaipur grew up around Lake Pichola, which Wikipedia dates to 1362, with the embankment raised by Udai Singh II in 1560. Rajasthan Tourism dates Jag Niwas, the Lake Palace, to 1743–1746, and it is now a hotel. Jag Mandir, on the next island, dates to 1620 to about 1652. Our Lake Pichola guide explains the jetties, the boat options and what lands where.
HRH Hotels’ Jag Mandir excursion lists ₹600 for a regular adult ticket and ₹800 at sunset, but its printed validity ended on 31 March 2026 and no newer table is published. A travel blog reports a cheaper municipal boat at around ₹180 that may not land at Jag Mandir. Gangaur Ghat is about 0.5 km by road, around 5 min by car from the City Palace.
Photo: Daniel Villafruela · CC BY-SA 3.0Jagdish Temple
Jagdish Temple is about 0.2 km by road, around 5 min by car from the City Palace, a short walk uphill from the palace gate. Rajasthan Tourism says Maharana Jagat Singh I built it in 1651 and that it is dedicated to Vishnu. This is a working temple, so ask before photographing inside. We found no official page with hours or fees.
Photo: Jakub Hałun · CC BY-SA 4.0Bagore Ki Haveli
Close by at Gangaur Ghat, Bagore Ki Haveli was built by Amar Chand Badwa, prime minister of Mewar from 1751 to 1778. It has 138 rooms and passed to the West Zone Cultural Centre in 1986. The WZCC ticket list is undated and shows ₹60 for an Indian adult, ₹150 for a foreigner and ₹60 for a camera.
WZCC’s Dharohar poster, published in April 2023, lists a daily folk-dance show from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with tickets on sale from 5:30 pm. It lists ₹100 for Indians and ₹200 for foreigners, so treat the price as three years old.
Gulab Bagh and the Vintage Car Collection
Gulab Bagh is a public garden about 1.9 km by road, around 5 min by car from the City Palace. Rajasthan Tourism notes the Navlakha Mahal, where the reformer Maharishi Dayanand stayed from August 1882, and a bird park of 12 enclosures. We found no official fee or hours.
The Vintage and Classic Car Collection is in the former Mewar State Motor Garage, in the same grounds as the Garden Hotel, and opened to the public on 15 February 2000. The page lists ₹330 for adults and ₹200 for children, undated, and shows no hours.
Mansapurna Karni Mata ropeway
A ropeway runs from Deen Dayal Upadhyay Park up to the hilltop near the Karni Mata temple, about 2.6 km by road, around 10 min by car from the City Palace. No official fare turned up. Trawell reports ₹72 for an Indian adult and other travel sites report up to ₹150, so ask at the booking window. The photo below shows the view from the Machla Magra hill at sunset, not the ropeway.

Fateh Sagar Lake
Rajasthan Tourism places Fateh Sagar north of Pichola, joined to it by a canal. Nehru Park is the island garden, reached by boat, and another islet holds the Udaipur Solar Observatory, which we could not establish is open to visitors, so see it from the lake.
The lake is about 3.6 km by road, around 10 min by car from the City Palace. We found no ticket price for Nehru Park. Udaipur Times reported in November 2023 that stipulated boat rates were ₹40 to ₹200 but tourists were charged three to four times that. Agree the fare first and ask for a ticket.
Photo: Mustang Joe · CC0Moti Magri
Moti Magri is the hill beside Fateh Sagar, topped by a bronze statue of Maharana Pratap on his horse, Chetak. It is about 3.6 km by road, around 15 min by car from the City Palace. No reliable source gave a fee or hours, so check locally.
Saheliyon Ki Bari
Rajasthan Tourism says Maharana Sangram Singh II built this garden for women. It lists a small museum, marble elephants, fountains, kiosks and a lotus pool. It is about 3.1 km by road, around 10 min by car from the City Palace. We found no official fee or hours, and travel sites disagree.
Photo: Mustang Joe · CC0Shilpgram
Shilpgram is a crafts village of rural huts from the western states, with artisans at work. Our Shilpgram guide has the details. It is about 6.6 km by road, around 20 min by car from the City Palace. The WZCC page lists ₹60 for an Indian adult, ₹40 for a child and ₹150 for foreigners, undated.
The ten-day Shilpgram Utsav is usually held in late December. In 2025 it opened on 21 December, and WZCC had published no 2026 dates when this guide was written.
On the edges of the city
Sajjangarh, the Monsoon Palace
Maharana Sajjan Singh built this hilltop palace on the Bansdara hills in the 19th century. It stands in a wildlife sanctuary, and the top is about 7.7 km by road, around 25 min by car from the City Palace, while the gate at the foot is nearer. Udaipur Times reported in July 2025 that the park and the sanctuary were ticketed separately, with a combined ticket proposed. We found no confirmed current price, so ask at the gate. Our monsoon page shows the season it was built for.
Photo: Roshan kumar (Photomylife) · CC BY-SA 4.0Ahar Cenotaphs
Ahar is where the royal cenotaphs stand, about 4.9 km by road, around 15 min by car from the City Palace. A small museum nearby holds pottery finds said to date from about 1700 BC, according to Rajasthan Tourism. We found no official fee or hours, and travel sites list entry as free or a few rupees.
Badi Lake
Maharana Raj Singh built Badi Lake and named it Jiyan Sagar after his mother, Jana Devi. It later gave relief in the 1973 drought. It is about 9.6 km by road, around 25 min by car from the City Palace. Travel sites report it as free, with paid boating, but no official source confirms this.
Beyond the city: half-day and day trips
These are longer drives, so each needs a half day or more. Our day trips guide compares them.
Eklingji
Eklingji is a complex of temples to Shiva at Kailashpuri, about 23 km by road, around 1 hr by car from the City Palace. We found no official page, so we give no hours.
Haldighati
Haldighati is about 42 km by road, around 1 hr 10 min by car from the City Palace. Wikidata dates the Battle of Haldighati, between Maharana Pratap and a Mughal army, to 1576. The name is usually explained by the turmeric-yellow soil. The Maharana Pratap Museum’s own site lists 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, but its notice dates from 2022, so check before you go.
Photo: Soundarya Varadarajan · CC BY-SA 3.0Nathdwara
Shrinathji’s image was installed here in 1672, and the town is about 47 km by road, around 1 hr 15 min by car from the City Palace. Darshan times change daily and on festivals, so use the temple’s official site rather than a printed list. Our Nathdwara guide has more.
Kumbhalgarh Fort
Rana Kumbha built the fort in the 15th century, and Maharana Pratap was born here. It is about 97 km by road, around 2 hr 30 min by car from the City Palace, so it needs a full day. No official fee page was reachable. One travel site reports ₹40 for Indians and ₹600 for foreigners, while an older one gives ₹15 and ₹200. A draft ASI schedule of September 2026 may change fort fees, so confirm at the gate. See our Kumbhalgarh guide.
Which of these suit a short stay?
With one day, take the old city: City Palace early, Jagdish Temple, Gangaur Ghat and a boat at the end of the afternoon. With a second, add Fateh Sagar, Saheliyon Ki Bari and Shilpgram. Our itinerary guide sets out the order, and the best time to visit page covers the seasons.
Where Sukher fits
Hotel Rudra Kripa is in Sukher, on the north side of the city. That puts it about 6.4 km by road, around 20 min by car from Saheliyon Ki Bari but about 9.2 km by road, around 25 min by car from the City Palace, so you will drive to the old city. See all distances or how to reach Udaipur.
