Nathdwara is a temple town north-east of Udaipur. Most people come for the Shrinathji Temple. The Statue of Belief, a very tall seated Shiva, is a newer draw on the edge of town. Both are an easy half-day from Udaipur if you plan around the darshan sessions.

How far is Nathdwara from Udaipur?

Sources quote different distances, so here is how ours are measured. Both figures below are road distances to the Shrinathji Temple, from two stated starting points.

Sukher is on the north side of Udaipur, so the road figure to the temple is about 8.0 km shorter from the hotel than from the City Palace. For other routes out of the city, see day trips from Udaipur.

Shrinathji Temple and darshan

Shrinathji is a form of Krishna. Rajasthan Tourism says the image was moved from Govardhan and installed in the temple at Sihad, now Nathdwara, in 1672. For many families the visit is a pilgrimage, and the town is organised around it. Approach it as a place of worship first.

A third-party guide, Yatradham, reports darshan in separate sessions, in a morning block and an evening block. It says times shift with the day and with festivals, and sources differ on the exact times.

Check the times before you go

We do not print a timetable. The temple’s official website is the place for current darshan times. It loads its schedule with scripts, and we could not read it when preparing this guide, so we cannot say what it currently shows. A notice on the same site has described festival timings as tentative.

We found no sourced rules on phones, cameras, bags or dress for the temple, so we say nothing about them here. Ask at the entrance and follow what staff tell you. Photography rules vary between temples, so be ready to leave devices behind.

The Statue of Belief

The Statue of Belief (Vishwas Swaroopam) stands at Tatpadam Upvan in Nathdwara. Its official site gives its height as 369 ft. Some other sites quote a shorter figure, so use the official one if you are quoting it.

Tickets are booked through the statue’s booking site, which lists categories for Indian and foreign visitors and Regular and Combo options. We could not see prices without starting a booking session, and the figures on third-party sites vary, so we give none. Check the price when you book.

A sensible half-day

Both sights are in Nathdwara, close to each other, so you can see them in one trip. Fix the temple first, because darshan sessions are the part you cannot move. Fit the statue around the session you choose.

  1. Check the temple’s site for the session you want, and plan the drive to arrive before it.
  2. Allow time to queue and walk to the temple, and expect the visit to run longer than the session itself.
  3. Visit the Statue of Belief before or after, with your ticket booked through its site.
  4. Leave time for the road back, especially if you add a stop.

Adding Eklingji and Haldighati on the way back

Two other stops sit in the same direction from Udaipur. Eklingji is about 23 km from the City Palace by road, around 1 hr by car. Haldighati is about 42 km, around 1 hr 10 min. Check a map for the order that suits your route, because we have not measured the loop.

Hours for these two are less certain. We found no official page for Eklingji. The Maharana Pratap Museum at Haldighati lists 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, but its page carries a notice from 2022, so confirm before relying on it. Adding both makes a full day rather than a half-day. More options are in day trips from Udaipur.

Planning notes

Because darshan is session-based and times change, treat any plan as provisional until you have read the temple’s site. If you want to see more of Udaipur first, the itinerary and best time to visit pages will help. We found no sourced taxi or bus fares for the journey, so we give none.
