Most visitors arrive by air, by train or by road from Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Delhi or Mumbai. This guide gives measured road figures for each, then the airport and station distances, then the last mile into the old city and out to Sukher.

We give no train timings or fares, and no flight schedules. Both change often, and the sources we could read are not official timetables. Confirm them on IRCTC or with the airline before you book.

By air

Maharana Pratap Airport (Dabok), code UDR, is run by the Airports Authority of India. AAI lists the address as Dabok, Udaipur 313022. Its FAQ asks passengers to report 90 minutes before a domestic flight and 3 hours before an international one.

Wikipedia, citing October 2026 press, lists these airlines and cities. Treat the list as reported, not official.

  • Air India: Mumbai.
  • Air India Express: Bengaluru and Delhi.
  • Akasa Air: Bengaluru (from 15 October 2026) and Mumbai.
  • IndiGo: Bengaluru, Bhopal, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Noida and Surat.
  • SpiceJet: Kolkata.

Routes come and go. Udaipur Times reported in March 2026 that the summer schedule cut Delhi flights from 8 daily to 4. We found no official winter 2026–27 schedule, so check the airline’s own site.

How far is Udaipur airport from the city?

Published figures differ. Wikipedia gives about 22 km east of the city. Rajasthan Tourism says about 25 km north-east of the centre. Neither says where it measures from, and one may be a straight line while the other follows roads.

Ours are driving distances between named points, so they are longer than a straight line and depend on the point you choose.

By train

Udaipur has two stations that serve the city: Udaipur City (UDZ) and Rana Pratap Nagar (RPZ). Wikipedia describes Udaipur City as having six platforms and being about 2.5 km from the centre. From the City Palace, our figures put it nearer than Rana Pratap Nagar (see the table in the last-mile section).

We could not reach an official timetable, because NTES and IRCTC need a session. The trains below come from third-party listings, so they show what exists, not when it runs. Confirm days, times and fares on IRCTC.

  • Delhi: erail reports the Mewar Express and the Chetak Express as daily overnight trains of about 12 hours, and the Rajasthan Humsafar as a weekly train of about 11 hours.
  • Ahmedabad: RailYatri lists Vande Bharat trains between Udaipur City and Asarva (Ahmedabad).
  • Jaipur: RailYatri lists Jaipur Intercity trains from Udaipur City.
  • Mumbai: RailYatri lists a train from Udaipur City to Bandra Terminus.
  • Others: RailYatri also lists trains to Agra Cantt (Vande Bharat), Kolkata, Rishikesh, Chandigarh and Shalimar.

RailYatri also lists the Mewar, Chetak, Vande Bharat and Agra trains at Rana Pratap Nagar. That shows the train appears on the list, not where it stops. Check which of the two stations your ticket names.

By bus and road

The central bus stand is at Udiapole. Sources disagree on how far it is from the railway station: Wikipedia’s Udiapole page says about 400 m, while other sources say about 2 km. Treat both as unconfirmed. The state bus operator, RSRTC, lists enquiry numbers 1800-2000-103, 7412069719 and 7412069699, and books at rsrtconline.rajasthan.gov.in.

Driving, the table below measures from each city’s main railway station to the City Palace and to the hotel in Sukher. Use it to judge the day, not to promise an arrival time.

Read these figures with care

The Indore figure is the fastest highway route in OpenStreetMap, about 437 km. Some published figures are shorter, which suggests slower roads. Mumbai, Pune, Surat and part of the Delhi route use expressways as mapped in OpenStreetMap, and we could not confirm that every section is open. Check the current route in a live maps app before you set off.

From Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Mumbai

Delhi

Delhi is about 681 km and 11 hr 30 min by road, so many travellers take the train or fly. Overnight trains reported by erail leave in the evening and arrive in the morning. If you fly, note the reported summer cut in Delhi flights and book early.

Jaipur

Jaipur is about 396 km, around 7 hr 30 min. That is a full day behind the wheel. IndiGo is listed on the Jaipur route, and Jaipur Intercity trains are listed at the station, so compare all three on price and time.

Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad is the shortest of the four at about 251 km, around 5 hr 30 min. Driving is a sensible choice and the Vande Bharat is listed too. We found no Ahmedabad flight on the airport’s reported route list.

Mumbai

Mumbai is about 707 km, around 12 hr, and some of it is on expressways we could not confirm are fully open. Air India, Akasa Air and IndiGo are all listed on the Mumbai route, so flying is worth pricing against the train.

The last mile: from station, bus stand and airport

Hotel Rudra Kripa is in Sukher, north of the old city. The lakes and the City Palace are a drive away. The table shows both ends of the choice: into the old city, and out to Sukher.

We have no sourced fares for taxis or autos, so we quote none. Ask the driver before you set off, and use a live maps app to check the route. If you want help with transport to Sukher, ask the reservations team whether they can arrange it; we do not promise a pick-up.

Once you are in the old city, the places to visit guide and the distances guide give measured figures between the main sights.
